Proven: iPad owners are idiots

You heard me right.

I’m shopping around for a tablet, and settled on an Acer Iconia 10″ for $tree-fiddy. It has all the bells and whistles, Android 4.0, great screen, blah blah blah.

Three hundred and fifty bucks for the latest Android tablet.

Just for shits and giggles I hit up Kijiji and Craigslist to see what the used iPads are doing.

$500 for a used first gen!

$650 for a used 2nd gen!

What the hell is wrong with the idiots who pay this much for used overhyped tablets?

Row row row your boat

I joined the local rec center a few weeks ago specifically to use their rowing machine (my shitty gym doesn’t have one, and I can’t stand ellipticals or bikes or treadmills).

Day 1: 5700 meters in 30 minutes
Today: 6823 meters in 30 minutes

I’m so goddamn exhausted right now.

So this site was hacked

Thanks to Google Alerts I received a notification of a new mention of the word “superjens” somewhere. It lead me to a site that appears to list hacked websites. I checked my site, all looked good, but a little more digging brought up a virus.html file in my www directory.

Neat!

Anyways, I changed all the passwords, removed the offending file, and then actually discovered a “virus” in one of the themes I was messing around with, Nova from here: http://www.elegantthemes.com/gallery/nova/

Now I can’t say for certain if the virus was there originally, or was planted by whoever broke into my site, but that entire theme has been removed as well. All is clean, as far as I can tell. I’ll have to dig into this some more, maybe I should rebuild the site from my last backup. Whatever, there’s nothing important on there.

Scumbag Plumber

We rent, which mean our landlord pays for any repairs to our place that aren’t our fault. Our kitchen faucet suddenly stopped giving out hot water, and as handy as I am in the house (not very) I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. He agreed we should call in a plumber.

So they came, fixed some broken washers, gave me a bill and I payed it by cheque. Half an hour later, they called me back and said they lost the cheque. No problem, come back and I’ll dish out another one. In the meantime, I went online and cancelled the cheque, costing me $15.

I deducted the $15 from the new cheque and sent them on their way. Half an hour later, their boss called and demanded I cough up the $15 … stupid I told the boys that showed up that our landlord was paying for it, not sure why I did, but I did … anyways, his justification was that the landlord was paying for it so what did I care?

He called me back this morning again, and I refused. My logic was that his boys lost it, they should be paying the $15, not me, and certainly not my landlord.

More arguing from him. Get lost.
