This PhD dissertation examines the relationship between Frisia and the Viking world during the Viking Age. It utilizes a multidisciplinary approach, analyzing both written and archaeological sources to explore how Frisia was connected to the wider North Sea realm. The study argues that Frisia was not simply a part of the Carolingian sphere, but also had significant interactions with Viking culture, particularly along the Frisian coast. This analysis helps to create a more nuanced understanding of the complex and overlapping spheres of influence in the North Sea during the Viking Age.
