This research utilizes ancient DNA analysis from 460 medieval individuals to examine the genetic transformation of England following Roman rule. The study confirms that a massive migration from continental northern Europe, specifically from regions like Germany and Denmark, significantly altered the English gene pool during the Early Middle Ages. These migrants integrated with the local Romano-British population, contributing up to 76% of the ancestry in eastern England while exhibiting complex social and family-level mixing. Genetic data also reveals that women with immigrant roots were frequently buried with more prestigious items, though ancestry did not strictly dictate male social status. Furthermore, the findings highlight a subsequent demographic shift involving southwestern European ancestry that distinguishes medieval populations from those in present-day Britain. Ultimately, this work harmonizes biological evidence with archaeological records to clarify the origins and evolution of the English people
